Celebrity repaint number one for the 87s, was 87001 'STEPHENSON' at London Euston after arriving with a service from Glasgow Central (Dec-'03)

After a complete repaint by Wembley Depot and a transformer swap by Willesden TMD, 87001 was reunited with its Royal Scot 'plates on one side and ran light engine to the National Railway Museum at York, where it will now be based. (Sep-'05)

After spending nigh on 18 months inside a damp tent, 87001 was finally moved into the Great Hall in July 2007 at the National Kettle Museum, where the footbridge gave an excellent viewpoint of the fin

Eventually destined for preservation with the AC loco group but for now employed by GB Railfreight, 87002 on display at the Crewe Works 2005 Open Day (Sep-'05)

Taken on lease by GBRailfreight to cope with the increase in loco haulage due to problems with the Class 325 EMUs, 87002 passing Carlisle with 1M44 Shieldmuir-Warrington. (Apr-'06)

Later in the month, 87002 was on rare territory, seen here at Peterborough while working 1S04 London-Shieldmuir mails. The train was diverted from the more usual WCML route due to engineering work. (Apr-'06)

Having recently made a return to passenger action after a lengthy period OOS, 87002 'The AC Locomotive Group' at London Euston having arrived ECS from Wembley for the 1651 Euston-Birmingham which may turn out to be the last working of the recent comeback. (July-'06)

Somewhere not uncommon for Class 87s stopping recently has been Bletchley. 87002 seen leaving ECS to the carriage sidings after the cancellation of 1G21 due to loss of power above 70mph. Rather a lot of horn sounding from passing Pendo's as news of our failure broke...The failure resulted in no serviceable locos for the diagram and forced its suspension until 87006 could be readied. (July-'06)

87002 made a return to traffic on 10th October after lengthy repairs being let loose on a service train (with 87006 DIT as insurance). The pair are seen here at Birmingham International with 1G21 Euston-New Street. (Oct-'06)

The day after the previous shot, Number 2 was entrusted to work the complete diagram alone. After a spirited run down the West Coast (!), the former Royal Sovereign is seen here at London Euston with 5B05 to Wembley Depot. (Oct-'06)
